Now seven months into her new position as President of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, Cindy’s focus is on creating positive change through innovation.
Join us for a conversation as we hear Cindy’s leadership journey and the Chamber’s plans for the future. Learn from Cindy’s outside-the-box thinking as she encourages young professionals to learn from their mentors but not to be afraid mix things up a little.

At this month’s Young Professional Network (YPN) meeting, we will hear all about the new Columbus Arts District from Richard McCoy and Jayne Farber.
Why is this important to you as a young professional? As described in the Columbus Arts District Strategic Plan, ”arts and cultural activities contribute to our sense of community and bring a richness of life to our residents by energizing, entertaining, educating and inspiring us”. On August 15th, CYP’s Third Thursday is starting at 5:30 PM at 4th Street Bar and Grill. Come out to network and socialize with other young people and professionals! Be sure to bring your friends, your significant other, or just come by yourself, you’ll be sure to meet some new people. We have NEW TIME, be sure to come early!

On June 20th, we will have our first Third Thursday of the Summer at Amazing Joe’s at 7:00 PM. Come check out CYP on the patio. Be sure to be your friends, your significant other, or just come by yourself, you’ll be sure to meet some new people.
On July 13th, is our next volunteering opportunity, called “Stuff the Bus” from 9am-3pm. Volunteers will be encouraging Walmart shoppers to donate money and/or school supplies for the School Supply Assistance Program. We need 12 volunteers for 3 shifts – we will have 2 at each door during each 2 hour shift. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up on Facebook.
On July 15th, we will be having CYP Networking Roundtables at 12:00 pm , at the Columbus Visitor’s Center. The event will be hosted by the Chamber of Commerce’s Tim Cooney, the Membership Director. It will be a great time to network with young professionals, but there will also be a number of community leaders attending as well. On July 20th, we will be having the First Ever DODGE BALL TOURNAMENT. The tournament will start at 11:00 AM, Saturday morning. Teams will be made up of 6 people, and will cost $75. The Republic and Columbus Young Professionals (CYP) are accepting nominations from the public for the 20 Under 40 awards. These awards seek to recognize Columbus’ top 20 emerging business and community leaders under the age of 40.
Nominees for the award should have made a significant contribution through community involvement, professional accomplishments, and demonstrated leadership ability. Nominations should be a one-page description of why you think nominee should be selected with a focus on career achievement to-date, commitment to excellence in career, leadership within company and/or industry, involvement in community activities, and leadership in community organizations. Nominees should be 39 years old or younger as of May 16, 2013 and live or work in Bartholomew County.
20 Under 40 recipients will receive their award at the CYP Annual Meeting on Thursday, May 16th at Factory 12 Event Loft, starting at 5:30PM.
Nominations for 20 Under 40 should be submitted no later than 5:00PM on Wednesday, April 3rd. Nominations will be accepted via email mail or personal. A selection committee will consider all nominations and determine award recipients. Please submit nominations to:

Saturday, December 8 from 10:00am-1:00pm @ United Way Center:Get in the holiday spirit this Second Saturday as we volunteer with The Cheer Fund! The Cheer Fund is coordinated by the City of Columbus Firemen, and their success depends on volunteer contributions to reach a monetary goal for the purchase of new toys, food, and clothing for underprivileged children in Bartholomew County. Join CYP as we help The Cheer Fund with toy sorting, boxing, cleaning and refurbishing used toys.

Come enjoy a FREE lunch and learn about identity theft, your risk, how to detect a problem, and what to if your personal information is compromised. You can’t afford to miss this session.
