It’s not how far you go, it’s what happens along the way….
What is the CYP Amazing Race?
The CYP Amazing Race is a summer long adventure in which teams of two to
four race around Columbus in competition with other young professionals.
Contestants strive to complete challenges in four different categories
with chances to win major prizes.
Do I have to be a member of CYP to participate?
No, you do not have to be a member of CYP to participate in the Amazing
Race. Non-CYP Members will be charged a $5 fee per person. CYP Members
compete for free as a benefit to their membership. You can join CYP by
Clicking here.
What are the requirements for participating?
In order to participate you must be between the ages of 21 and 39 and
one person from each team must either work or live in Bartholomew County
.
I am an intern in Columbus for the summer. Can I still participate?
Yes. We welcome all interns who are 21-39 and living and/or working in
Bartholomew County this summer to participate in the Race. It will be a
great way for interns to see all of the wonderful things Columbus has to
offer.
What do you mean by challenges or events?
There will be four separate categories of challenges/events. These
categories include: The Green Mile, Local Flavor, a Secrets of Columbus, and lastly, Columbus Going Back and Beyond. These challenges
will be given accordingly and are to be accomplished randomly throughout
the duration of the Race. These may include events to attend, things to
do, or places to go in Bartholomew County. The challenges/events are to
highlight some of the unique and fun things there are to do in the area.
We will release the official list of challenges at our Kick-Off Event on
June 25,

completing challenges or attending events remember creativity is
strongly encouraged throughout the race. Do unexpected and unforgettable
things, the judges love outrageousness!!!
Will this year's race challenges be patterned the same way as the
previous 2 years?
This year we added a twist and included 4 single Day Races. Different
teams would do an actual race and collect clues and complete obstacles
around Columbus to be able to reach the finish line. So besides from the
grand prize, there will be a lot of prizes to be given away throughout
the whole race!
What is the Amazing Race Kick-Off Event?
The Kick-Off is an event to officially start off the CYP Amazing Race
and to recognize all the teams that are participating. This year, it
will be from 5:30-7:30 at LHP Historical Post Office at
703 Washington Street right across Century 21. Baby Back Blues will be
providing free BBQ and a cash bar will be available.
I am not participating in the Race. Can I still come to the Kick-Off
Event?
Absolutely! The Kick-Off Event will be a great opportunity to see the
teams in action. You can even get involved by voting for your favorite
team. If you team wins in October, your ballot will be entered into a
drawing for a prize.
What do the winning team win?
The grand prize would include different prizes amounting up to $1500! It
will be awarded to the team who completes the most challenges and earns
the most points. Other prizes include a flight around Columbus, Dinner
and a 1 Night Stay per team member at Hotel Indigo, 8 Tickets to Yes
Cinema, 16 Tickets to The Philharmonic, Bottles of wine donated by
Smith’s Row, tickets on the Visitors Center architectural tour, and
much, much more, we will be true to our theme…
Unexpected. Unforgettable.
How will the teams be judged?
Some criteria would include number of challenges accomplished, blog
creativity, and peer involvement. There will also be bonus points for
early check-in and the like. Check out the CYP website
www.columbusyp.org/amazingrace
for details on the Race rules and regulations.
Does it cost to participate?
It does not cost to enter the Race if you are a CYP Member. There is a
$5 fee for non-CYP members to compete. You may find that some events or
challenges may have a fee associated with them depending on where they
are located. We promise, you won't find a better summer of entertainment
at a lower cost than this.
I don't know enough people to create a team but would still like to
participate. Is that possible?
If you are interested in getting matched up with other teammates, please
email info@columbusyp.org and
we will try to introduce you to others who are interested in competing.
There are different gatherings and social events posted in the CYP
website. If you are interested in finding teammates, meeting new friends
or just simply want to hang out, please come and join us!!
What happens if a team ties for first place?
In case of a tie in points, both teams will be given a Columbus Quiz
with various questions about the Columbus community. The team with the
most correct answers on the quiz will then be the winner. |
