Canstruction is a design/build competition held in cities all across the country. Canstruction is the foundation of the Society for Design Administration, an affiliate of the American Institute of Architects. Teams of architects, engineers and teams of students or other groups mentored by those professionals compete to build structures made entirely of thousands of whole cans of food. Even though much larger cities across the country tend to hold this event, we believe with the strong engineering base and affection for architecture that Columbus has, the event can be a success. Winners of our local competition can compete on the national level. The teams will be responsible for acquiring their cans of food. Those cans of food will be passed to our local food banks, along with any monetary donations received. Structures will be created at Fair Oaks Mall on Saturday, February 28th and will be on display for the public through March 8th.
